Coach Jeremy Johnston, winningest coach is Northwest Kansas Technical College men's basketball history, has announced the hiring of Nathan Padia to join the program for the 2016-17 season.

"Nathan is a great asset to our program. He has been a Division I athlete, has been the head coach of a JV team before, and has worked a variety of camps before which will help the skill development of our players.  He's a hard worker, very organized, and a great communicator.  I am very excited to add Nathan to our basketball staff, said Johnston.

Coach Padia is in his first year as an Assistant Coach at Northwest Tech and his 4th overall season coaching collegiate basketball. Padia's primary responsibility will be serving as the Head Coach of the JV program.

Before coming to Northwest Tech, Padia was a graduate assistant coach at Ottawa University where he also was the Head Coach for the JV team. At Ottawa, Padia was in charge of individual player development, strength and conditioning, and film breakdown.

Prior to Ottawa University, Coach Padia spent one season at NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist University. At SBU he handled day-to-day operations within the team, planned and implemented in and off-season workouts, did player evaluations, and worked primarily with post players and team defense. Padia also coached the Bearcats to a 71-69 victory over Lindenwood University during the head coach's absence. He was named Interim Head Coach for five weeks at SBU while administration looked for a new head coach.

Padia was a four-year letterman on the football field for Division I Lafayette College. Off of the field, he was involved in the Lafayette Men's Gospel Choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, had a leadership role at the Youth Empowerment Day, and was a volunteer at local elementary schools.

Padia has his Bachelor's Degree from Lafayette College and MBA from Ottawa University. Padia has arrived in Goodland and we are pleased to welcome him to Maverick Nation!
