Northwest Kansas Technical College basketball player R. J. June from Sanford, Fla., signed to continue his basketball-playing career come next season. June played at Northwest Tech for one season under Head Coach Jase Herl. This year's team had an undefeated home season and competed in the Region VI Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
June came to Northwest tech after being a State Champion at Oviedo High School in Sanford, Fla., and was later named Florida 7A Player of the Year. He will graduate with a Technical Certificate in Business this May, and continue his career at Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla., the defending Division II National Champions. June will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Northwest Tech Head Coach Jase Herl commented on his player saying, "RJ came to us as one of the more heralded recruits we have had…RJ is as fierce competitor and is as good of a teammate as there is. He will have great success at Florida Southern because of his willingness to work and his love to be coached and challenged.
Three other Mavericks have signed Letters of Intent to continue their playing careers.
